WGN's Cubs Song Contest!

WGN/Chicago is putting the call out to all musicians as they kick off the "WGN Radio Cubs Song Contest" in search of the next great Cubs anthem! The winning song will actually become the official WGN Radio Cubs song of the 2012 season and will be played on-air in conjunction with the station's Cubs broadcasts and promos.

To enter, contests write an original song about the Chicago Cubs and email it as an mp3 file to WGN. The lyrics must mention the Cubs and WGN Radio, but may not mention names of individual players, coaches or Cubs management. And don't go all epic on 'em! Songs longer than four minutes will be disqualified. At the end of the submission period, WGN Radio will select up to ten finalists and post them online for listeners to vote on and ultimately choose the winning song! The winner also gets to record their song in a professional studio session at WGN Radio and perform the song live during Jonathon Brandmeier's Opening Day broadcast on April 5. (02-06-12)

WDRC's Salute To Veterans 2012

102.9-FM DRC/Hartford has an ongoing salute to American veterans as a perpetual fixture on their website. Here listeners can read inspiriting stories, watch tribute videos and share photos of the veterans in their lives. There are also places for announcements for families of veterans looking for community support -- like local Marine Hero Greg Caron who lost both of his lower legs while on tour of duty in Afghanistan.

There's a call to action for fans to participate in "Red Fridays" where people wear red each Friday to remember our troops and veterans. Overall, a very moving and profound section of the DRC web site that reminds all of us that all of the freedoms we enjoy -- speech, religion, the right to vote, and so many more that we often take for granted -- were and are being paid for by our veterans. KGMZ's Lucky Break!

Sports KGMZ 95.7 The Game/San Francisco is holding a contest where listeners can actually vie for a contract to become an announcer and talk sports on the station! "Lucky Break" will hold four audition sessions around the market with 16 contestants picked to compete for the ultimate goal of a job at the station, with the final to be held on April 4th!

The Game's Brodie Brazil will host the contest, with Dan Dibley and Brandon Tierney acting as "coaches" and PD Jason Barrett, host John Lund and various celebrity athletes serving as judges. Barrett said, "Lucky Break is their chance to win one of the best jobs in the world: becoming a sports radio talk show host!" (02-02-12)

Cute couples are invited to upload their cutest photo and explain why they're Jacksonville's Cutest Couple for a chance to win a pair of tickets to see Celtic Woman live and in concert as the group returns to Jacksonville once again with their electrifying new show! WCJK's Junk For the Booper Sowl!

Every year radio stations doing promotions around the Super Bowl are saddled with that ridiculous rule that they're not actually allowed to say the words "Super Bowl." Usually the term is deferred to things like the "Big Game," etc. Down in Nashville, we especially liked WCJK 96.3 Jack-FM's take on the problem with a promotion they call "Jack's Junk for the Booper Sowl!"

Jack's giving away a 42" Flat Screen TV, $250 in catering from Famous Dave's BBQ and $100 cash for party supplies (think: Beer?) and they're counting it a plus that the station WON'T come to your house and bother you during the big game. But they will make sure you have everything you need so you and your friends can have a killer party! Listeners simply log into Club Jack to enter and then listen to win! (01-30-12)

KOOL's Ca$h Vault!

If winning tens of thousands of dollars one of your New Year's resolutions, then 94.5 KOOL-FM/Phoenix should be right up your alley! Along with playing the valley's greatest hits, the KOOL CA$H VAULT is doling out all kinds of Free Money! Mega-times a day to play at 7:35, 8:35, 10:35 and 11:35 in the morning, then afternoons at 1:35, 2:35, 3:35, 4:35 and 6:35. The Vault does close at 4:35pm on Fridays for the weekend.

The 9th caller at each game time gets to guess exactly how much money is in the KOOL CA$H VAULT (dollars AND cents). If they do, they win it all. Single sort recycling has arrived in Milwaukee meaning listeners can now mix all recyclables in their recycling carts and Jammin' 98.3 is asking everyone to pledge on the station website to be a recycler! WHQG's Super Prize Game Show!

The morning duo of Bob & Brian on WHQG 102.9 The Hog/Milwaukee have out done themselves this time. It's the "$10,000 Big Time Happy Ha-Ha Super Prize Game Show" where winners can win $5,000 cash and double it to $10,000 if they're a Fire Keepers Club member at Potawatomi Casino! Correct callers start by winning the prize of the day right off the bat.

Then, they're given five trivia questions. If they answer all five correctly, they win the money -- as much as $10,000 on the spot! The questions are somewhat challenging but then you can't expect them to just throw the money at you! Portland's KPAM AM860's morning man, Bob Miller, will be spending the next five days hosting "Operation Santa Claus!" This is the 9th year for the radiothon which raises funds specifically to assist local families coping with the loss of income due to military deployment. Thanks to listener's generosity, Operation Santa Claus has raised over $1,000,000 dollars in the last eight years.

AM 860 and Bob Miller work with "The Salvation Army" as a conduit for the money raised during the week of the radiothon. 100% of the proceeds raised, go through them to the local military families in need in Portland and Southwest Washington. KQCH, Omaha's Channel 94.1, is gearing up for the 2011 December Diaper Drive, presented by Methodist Women's Hospital! So Channel 94.1 is stepping in to help.

The station will collect diapers -- hopefully enough to fill an entire semi-truck -- Friday December 16 – Sunday December 18 at Nobbies Party Super Store. All diapers will be collected & donated to The Lydia House - a division of the Open Door Mission - to be distributed to needy, young mothers with infant children. The website also features great suggestions for listeners on how to form their own mini-diaper drives at work or in the neighborhood. A great cause and nice alternative to the traditional food drives we see this time of the year. In addition, 52 Valley Desert Schools locations will also participate by collecting cans and establishing a Million Can Account for anyone wishing to visit a branch location and make a monetary donation. Gas prices are going up again but Boston's 105.7 WROR has got plenty of it -- and it's all free when listeners play "Pump and Win!" Throughout the month of February the game has been under way and listeners can win up to105 free gallons weekdays between 7am and 6pm!

A WROR staff member will play a recording featuring predetermined numbers of gallons of gas. The contestant must say "stop" before the losing sound effect plays.
